Since 1999, Bukas Sarili has focused its efforts on improving the quality
of local health care, beginning with its support of the Philippine General
Hospital (PGH), the country's largest public medical institution.
In 2000, with the success of our Medical program, we expanded our efforts
to Education, the other component of Filipino development.
:: How will Bukas Sarili fund these programs?
The primary sources of funding are the following:
Fundraisers
Solicitations
Pledges
Corporate / Institutional partnerships
Members are tasked to manage solicitations and pledges from individual,
institutional, or corporate patrons. Pledges differ from solicitations in
that the former allows for continuing support for the program and its
recipients. Our system allows for flexibility in donor preference. Donors
who opt to pledge will be called upon on a quarterly basis. All patrons will
be supported by program updates and regular communications.
From time to time, Bukas Sarili will conduct special events and fundraisers
to augment existing efforts and increase awareness, such as exposure trips,
rummage sales, charity dinners, plays, bingos, and medical missions.
The directors, officers, and members continue to be active in seeking
alternative and sustainable sources of funding that will support the Foundation's
outlined programs.
:: Are there other programs?
Bukas Sarili aims to deepen its focus within the Education and Health sectors.
We continue, however, to form linkages with other institutions in the public,
private, and civic sectors to effectively channel human and financial resources
towards their respective causes. Our long-term goal is to take the lead in
institutionalizing these networks since we believe that the synergy from these
partnerships is the best way to advance Filipino development.
