:: How does Bukas Sarili intend to reach its beneficiaries?
For its Medical Program, Bukas Sarili has designed a system to manage the
sourcing and distribution of funds and medical supplies for use of the Internal
Medicine ward. Foundation officers have established active linkages with PGH
physicians and social workers to add value to the hospital's services.
Monthly Donations On July 21, 2000, during a General Assembly, Bukas Sarili launched
its monthly Internal Medicine Ward donations. These are funded mainly
through monthly pledges by members and private donors as well as through fundraising
events. Recipients are selected by the Internal Medicine Department Chairperson
and the Chief Resident based on criteria set forth by the Foundation.
Donations in Kind Bukas Sarili accepts medicines, medical equipment and supplies, and ancillary ward equipment
such as computers, droplamps, etc. The Medical Supervisory Committee ascertains the condition
of such donations and delivers them to the appropriate recipients.
Foreign Donations The Philippine Airlines Foundation has offered to bring in foreign donated medical equipment and
supplies free of charge --subject to space and schedule restrictions. Currently, Bukas Sarili is
seeking foreign partner institutions as potential sources of these donations.
