:: What is the Bukas Sarili Foundation, Inc.?

Formed in the 2nd quarter of 1999, Bukas Sarili is a duly registered non-stock, non-profit foundation whose vision is to serve as an instrument of change for Filipino development. Our focus is to fund and manage programs that support our twin thrusts of Public Health and Higher Education.

:: Why is it called Bukas Sarili?

Bukas Sarili literally means the "Open Self", the awareness of the social and economic disparities in our surroundings and an openness to our capacity for change--beginning with ourselves and onto those we seek to help. More importantly, it represents action-based idealism, founded on the belief that the members of the Foundation as well as its beneficiaries belong to one interdependent Filipino community.
