Building on the previous year's success, Bukas Sarili began its 2nd Christmas
Cards project with high hopes of selling 20,000 cards - 13,500 more than its 1st
year venture. The Foundation's approach was two-fold, augmenting last year's
individual packs selling with corporate cards. 2002's offering consisted of
10 beautifully designed cards by volunteer artists Ray Alimurung (Candle,
Manger-graphic art, Parols and Angels), Oliver Isabedra (Jesus, Mary and Joseph
and Carolling), Paolo Lim (Church), Noel Perlas (Nativity, Simbang Gabi), and
Stephen Lim (Manger-painting). Bulk orders allowed companies and individuals
to select the designs they preferred; individual packs contained all 10 designs
bearing the message "Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a prosperous
New Year!" and sold for P250.
Beginning with the launching of the 1st set of cards on Oct 19, the same
day as the Foundation hosted Angels bazaar, until Christmas eve, the
Foundation sold more than 18,500 cards! While slightly below the initial
target, it was nevertheless an amazing achievement-a testament to the
dedication of the members.
Many thanks to the organizing team-Criselle Panlilio, Timi Gomez, Pilar
Estrada, Mari Swa, Avi Lim, Arra Manuel and yours truly-who spent countless
hours planning, printing and selling the cards and to the members and friends
of Bukas Sarili who gave of their time and effort to make this project a huge
success-Margo Flores, Tintin Montinola, Shasha Sy, Ray Alimurung, Tess Sulit
and the many others.
